*Each step's changing time may change at the doctors' discretion, subjected to good compliance and fit as the patient progress.

A combination of one soft and one hard aligner achieves about 0.6mm of tooth movement. Starting with a soft aligner ensures low initial forces, followed by a hard aligner for final adjustments. A study found that using progressively thicker aligners reduces force values and provides a consistent load increase for each setup step. Importantly, treatment time remains unchanged or may even be quicker, as a larger range of movement is possible compared to a single thickness aligner system.

This principle of alternating between soft and hard aligners ensures a perfect range of orthodontic forces. The principle of this light force and then subsequent force reactivation might be compared with the principle of leveling and alignment in fixed appliance therapy. This unique Progressive Force Concept has been proven to make orthodontic tooth movements very predictable as you will also experience.
